JESUS WALKING ON THE SEA

And because a strong wind was blowing, the sea was churning…they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat… (John 6:18-19). Through this word I came to know the grace of God.

I immigrated from Korea to New Zealand 1995 on my own. As a young person full of self-confidence, I arrived at the airport without knowing anyone, except one person who was my immigration agent. It was the Lord's sovereign arrangement because she was a sister in the church in Hamilton!

Not long after (six months), I was invited to the summer conference. Even though I was not a believer, still I could feel something was flowing during the meeting through the rejoicing, singing and speaking. I decided to read the Bible starting from the gospel of John. I wanted to know something of what they enjoyed. When I came to John 6:19, "Jesus walking on the sea," I read the footnote for it. 'This signifies that the Lord can overrule all the troubles of human life. He can walk on the troubling waves of human life, and all the troubles are under His feet.' (John 6:19, footnote 1, Recovery version). That opened my heart. 'It is not I walking but He is the one walking on the sea. He is my Saviour! He is the One!' And I called upon His precious name from my heart that night and received Him as my Saviour. That was on Saturday 24th Feb. 1996.

Since the day I heard and knew the grace of God in truth, He has been my rest and peace. During the two years of training at our Christian training centre and two years of marriage life, He has been growing in my heart through the truth in the ministry of God's Word and the fellowship of the saints. What a wonderful Christ we have! When we take the Lord into our boat, we enjoy peace with Him! K.M
